Step into New York Times bestseller Nalini Singh’s explosive and shockingly passionate Psy-Changeling world…
A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stained bloodred.
A woman whose very existence has been erased.
A love story so dark, it may shatter the world itself.
A deadly price that must be paid.
The day of reckoning is here.
From “the alpha author of paranormal romance” (Booklist) comes the most highly anticipated novel of her career—one that blurs the line between madness and genius, between subjugation and liberation, between the living and the dead.
HEART OF OBSIDIAN was an emotionally charged and intensely brilliant story that had me staying up long into the night to finish it. In this book we see the impact of the slowly breaking self- imposed Silence on the Psy race with violent reactions to change and struggles for freedom by the Pure-Psy faction. The complexity of this world is always a joy to delve into and in HEART OF OBSIDIAN we see that the political climate along with the lives of the Psy race is extremely perilous. While this very bloody struggle between the Psy (as well as Changlings, and Humans) is fascinating, at the heart of HEART OF OBSIDIAN is a love story between two people who are so very broken.
Kaleb and Sahara fit together better than most of the other couples featured in the Psy-Changling series due to their shared years of torment at the hands of incredibly sadistic people. Just reading the descriptions of each of their years of torture was devastating and I was very glad when vengeance was met out. Kaleb was always a character I wanted to know more about and was never sure about his loyalties. Even at the beginning of HEART OF OBSIDIAN I wasn’t sure about what he was going to do to Sahara. By the end I finally got a good handle who this very dangerous, insanely loyal, sexy man stood with this world and with Sahara. Basically, the love story between Kaleb and Sahara is the definition of love and devotion on an almost insane level.
HEART OF OBSIDIAN is dark, compelling, and a wonderfully engaging addition to the Psy-Changling series. With the game changing events in this book I am looking forward to seeing the aftermath in the yet to be named 13th Psy-Changling book coming out in 2014..
