The Most Famous Playwright in the World

william-shakespeare

William Shakespeare has long been the world’s best-known playwright. This English poet and playwright wrote 17 comedies and 11 tragedies.

In addition he wrote 154 astonishing sonnets, five impressive poems and a dozen historical chronicles. His most popular works are A Midsummer Night’s Dream, King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, The Moor of Venice and, of course, Romeo and Juliet.

The genius of William Shakespeare is rightly considered not only in England but also far beyond its borders. As you know, the works of this master are a peculiar encyclopedia of human relationships, in which the author manages to skillfully and masterfully expose the souls of people, openly showing their true essence.

No one has ever reached the same heights of dramatic achievement that Shakespeare did. For many scholars it is still a mystery how in the 16th century a man was able to create such great works, which many years later have not lost their relevance.

The images of the heroes of his works have long been symbolic: such names as Otello and Iago are associated with credulity and cunning, Romeo and Juliet with sacrificial love, Falstaff with bravado and cowardice.

Shakespeare did a wonderful job of helping people see the world and themselves in a new light.
