The Plot Thickens
Hi, everyone! Firstly, I want to thank All Things Urban Fantasy for having me here today.
The first time I guest blogged here it was to chat a little about the first book in my Sierra Fox urban fantasy series. This time, I’m here because the third book in the same series will be released by Samhain Publishing this week. Yay.
Sierra Fox is a registered spook catcher and as I mentioned last time, it’s her job to remove pesky and troublesome ghosts so they can be judged and sentenced accordingly by the Spook Catcher Council. But what happens when the Council is under investigation? This question made way for a huge expansion in the story. All of a sudden, Sierra’s desire to separate herself from this corrupt place becomes a reality because she’s forced to find another way to secure rogue spooks…
This led me to some very interesting situations, which are explored as the series moves along.
When the idea for this series initially struck me, I knew the focus would begin with ghosts. Yet, introducing an array of supernatural hunters also meant there would be other things hidden in the darkness of society. Things most of the population know nothing about. Some, Sierra didn’t know about either. Even in a world where ghosts are an accepted part of life, there are many creatures that aren’t and I love exploring them.
As soon as Sierra met with the hunters so many possibilities and potential opened up, helping me shape her world. I’ve now written the first four books, and although each one seems to throw the focus on a particular species—demons, vampires, werewolves—the undercurrent of many more lurks beneath the surface…because even spooks vary.
It’s actually a lot of fun. I love how Sierra’s world keeps expanding, becoming so much more dangerous with each installment and even revealing hidden secrets about her family’s past. She might have been born a spook catcher, but there’s always more to discover.
I love it when a bunch of supernatural beings exist within an urban fantasy world and each is slowly introduced, that’s why Sierra’s world keeps getting bigger. What about you? Do you like the focus to be on just one species? Or do you like when it’s mixed up a bit?
Thanks for reading,

All it takes is one freak to turn everything into a demonic ritual.
Sierra Fox, Book 3
Sierra Fox’s relationship with sexy werewolf Jason Papan is going great, but it doesn’t take a psychic to tell her someone’s out to get her. As usual, though, there’s too much else going on to worry about just another assassination attempt.
In addition to the demon-possessed freaks that still want her, a whole new bucket of trouble has been dumped in her path. The half-sister Sierra never knew she had isn’t a typical teenager. Willow comes with supernatural baggage that grows heavier every time someone close to her dies. And the load gets bigger every time the police find the body of another young girl.
Now Sierra’s not only dealing with the target on her own back, but the one that a power-hungry woman has painted on her poltergeist-magnet sister. As she finds herself drawn into the thick of a murder investigation, Sierra must face her deepest fears and embrace the darkest of her powers to overcome the looming threat. Or the prediction of her death might just come true.
Warning: Spook catching: never gets any easier, neither does trying to avoid being killed by a shadowy organization. Always expect the unexpected—dangerous vampires, poltergeists and demon-obsessed freaks. At least the werewolf is pleasurably safe.
