The End We Start From by Megan Hunter

The End We Start From by Megan Hunter

November 13, 2017 Review 0

Motherhood is complex. Your body changes, your identity changes. THE END WE START FROM takes these overwhelming changes and throws in an apocalyptic event for good measure. The story starts as the unnamed narrator, with her husband and friends, prepares for a water birth. In the first few pages the prose is purple, drenched in metaphor rather than conveying the narrator’s frame of mind. It’s not until the narrator gives birth and goes to her in-laws that the story really starts.

Review: Legal Wolf’s Mate, by Eve Langlais

November 28, 2016 Review 0

There are so many fun surprises in LEGAL WOLF’S MATE that I was grinning the whole time I was reading it. The characters are fun, the mystery is just weird enough to be interesting, and the romance is smoking hot.

In a world where only men can be werewolves, the women who they love need to be strong. Gavin isn’t sure that Megan is strong enough to deal with being a wolf’s mate, but as soon as he sees her sitting in his waiting room, he knows he has to have her.

Ever find yourself wondering about a loved-book’s backstory reference and thinking “hey, I wish I could read that”? I did when I first read Cursed. I loved Emma and Zach from the start with the references to their first case, I kept going back to Goodreads, wondering if I’d missed one.

An interesting character vignette, in PIA SAVES THE DAY our favorite couple face each other again, back at square one. The first time these two fell in love, Pia was the hunted. This time, she must use all her cunning to get close to a cranky, injured, amnesiac dragon… or lose the man of her dreams.

Review: Aces Wild (Sin City Collectors) by Amanda Carlson

ACES WILD is, in my opinion, a perfect start to the new Sin City Collectors series, which features an interesting premise in that the installments will be written by different authors. Since I already like Amanda Carlson’s other series, I was excited to see what she would bring to a totally different setting and characters. I was not disappointed. Though short, ACES WILD manages to pack in action and romance and enough of a hook to bring me back for the next story.

SEX & THE SINGLE VAMP had all the aspects of a vampire romance I like. Pairing of vampires of similar ages? Check! Centuries of sexual tension resolving itself? Check! A smoking hot hero and a heroine who isn’t afraid to stand her ground? Check and check again! The perfect little evening read, SEX & THE SINGLE VAMP is cute, tense, and sexy, and definitely worth a look.

Review: Dragos Takes a Holiday (Elder Races #6.5) by Thea Harrison

November 21, 2013 Review 2

Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series takes familiar romance and paranormal tropes to a level unparalleled in the genre, and DRAGOS TAKES A HOLIDAY is a great example of her prowess. This story shows us a glimpse behind the Happily-Ever-After curtain, after Pia marries the powerful, sexy billionaire, after her child is born, after her ordinary life is exposed to the limelight.
