I wasn’t sure what to expect from HUNTER. On the surface it had all my happy buttons pushed – witches and magic and romance. Seemed like a perfect match. And for the most part, it was.

THE CHOSEN feels like a delicious mix of Wild Wild West and Indiana Jones with paranormal touches. Luckily the details about the overarching relic quest and demon mythology were explained throughout the story without dragging the plot in order to catch new series readers up.
The tough as nails, take no prisoners biker chick portrayed on the cover of UNDER THE GUN, the fourth book in the Underworld Detection Agency, isn’t quite the same character we meet in these pages, but that’s not necessary a bad thing. As a human surround by all sorts of supernatural beings, Sophie is a very relatable heroine, and the murder mystery she has to solve is just as engaging as she is.
The adage “don’t judge a book by its cover’ couldn’t be more true than when it comes to DEMON HUNTING IN A DIVE BAR which is nothing like the cheesy cover. This turned out to be a surprisingly hilarious, fun and fast read. The dialogue is witty and sharp with tons of quirky southernisms which helped enhance the swamplands feel of the New Orleans dive bar Beck owns and her community of truly weird people.
The Mythos Academy series is one that capitalizes on the formula that made the Harry Potter books so successful. Take an orphan (a girl this time), reveal a magical heritage that is responsible for the death of her parent, ship her off to a magical boarding school, give her an inexplicably hostile teacher as well as a sage and cryptic headmaster, and make her integral to plot to return an evil power to the world… But try as it might, Mythos Academy is no Harry Potter.
The Immortal Guardians series by Dianne Duvall is one that continues to deepen its mythology and tell hot love stories that paranormal romance readers crave. In the third book in the series, former villain turned less villainous Bastien struggles to deny his growing attraction for Dr. Melanie, the one person who shares his desire to help the vampires condemned to go insane. They aren’t the most exciting pair, but Duvall injects their story with plenty of action to help liven it up.
