What more could you want in a main character? A skilled female blacksmith, a member of the Society for Creative Anachronisms, and she wears Doc Martens. Along with a great main character there is a great story inBLACK BLADE BLUES filled with Norse mythology, dragons, and ancient swords reforged.

In DEAD HEAT, Patricia Briggs’ takes us back into her world of werewolves and shapeshifters, fae and elementals, humans and the mortal dangers that come when cultures collide.
I may be a little biased because Jack Campbell is my favorite living author, but I loved THE HIDDEN MASTERS OF MARANDUR. This book picks up about two weeks after THE DRAGONS OF DORCASTLE ended, and you’re thrown right into the action. The intense battle and action scenes are one of the places where Campbell’s writing really shines. There are a lot of urban and epic fantasy novels that make me cringe when I read their battles, but Campbell’s years of military experience help him write realistic battles.
I’m at a loss for words here, since I have no idea how to fully convey how much I loved THE DRAGON CONSPIRACY. This is a book I read in its entirety in one sitting, and though Shearin has long been on my auto-buy list, if she hadn’t been, this book would have made me add her. It was basically perfect for me, in every way – with sarcastic Makenna, her delicious partner Ian, constant action that starts in the first chapter, and a little unresolved sexual tension to keep everybody on their toes.
When I finished with TAINTED BLOOD, all I could think was “Brennan did it again!” TAINTED BLOOD is that spectacular combination of great characters, action, and sexual tension that makes a reader keep flipping the pages, desperate to know what comes next.
BURN FOR ME is the Andrews writing team at their best. Complex and original world building, vivid characterization, witty banter, and sexual chemistry that extends beyond the physical.
THE WITCH WITH NO NAME is a fond farewell to all of the brilliantly flawed and loveable characters we’ve come to adore in The Hollows series. It takes a special series to make you actually feel so emotionally attached to characters so I was a bit nervous that THE WITCH WITH NO NAME would not live up to my expectations of how this series should end.
Just when I thought the October Daye series couldn’t get any better, along comes THE WINTER LONG. Gathering so many hints and threads and portents, this book is one delicious secret after another coming undone.
Perhaps the best of the series thus far, THE RIPPER AFFAIR is the confluence of a dark mystery, an exploration of London’s altered and haunting landscape, and the emotional growing pains of Bannon’s little family. A fantastic book for any one of these elements, combining all three makes for a relentless, mesmerizing read.
OF METAL AND WISHES hits that perfect blend of interesting world building, real characters, and romantic danger. Reminiscent of The Phantom of the Opera and THE HUNGER GAMES, these familiar components click together to create an altogether different dynamic. I couldn’t get this story out of my head until the very last page, and now I daydream about what comes next.
