The description for A POISON DARK AND DROWNING covers what happens in maybe the first quarter of the book – and it’s better that you don’t know what happens later. Like the first installment in the Kingdom on Fire series, this book is full of emotional ups and downs that left me reeling (in a good way) and desperate for more.

Gertrude is back and taking names! After yet another failed attempt to escape Fairyland, Gert is more pissed than ever in I HATE FAIRYLAND VOLUME 3: GOOD GIRL. She’s the perfect anti-hero, with glimmers of regret as she hacks and slashes her way through people who should clearly know better than to get between her and her goal.

It’s rare to find a book aimed at children, with a distinct voice to the narrator, that is also enjoyable as an adult. SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS is a surprisingly mature story that deals with bullying, social injustice, betrayal and yes, sorcery.

Sightlines (The Community Book 3) by Santino Hassell

Sightlines (The Community Book 3) by Santino Hassell

Working to take down an evil organization is hard when you’re still on the inside. As the 3rd book in a series, SIGHTLINES wraps up the Community plotline. As an evil company, Community seems to get worse and worse with every chapter. Inside the Farm, there’s torture, reprogramming and rape. Despite the bleakness, Chase Payne’s sarcasm and constant dickery keeps the bleakness from getting too dark.

BLACK BIRD OF THE GALLOWS fits in a lot of YA paranormal romance cliches while somehow also managing to be very unique and totally creepy. The creative mythology really gives a lot of oomph to what could be a very flat and boring YA paranormal romance.

You know a book is good when you start slowing down your reading speed and putting the book down because you’re not ready to leave the world of the story. You’re not ready to leave behind the characters you’ve grown to care for, even if this could be their happily ever after. THE DRUID NEXT DOOR is that kind of story and I’m so glad that it lives up to the first book in the series, CUTIE AND THE BEAST.
