To say the Thieftaker Chronicles series is well researched and practically throws you right into pre-Revolutionary War Boston with its attention to detail of life and events happening at that point in American history is a massive understatement.
Series: The Thieftaker Chronicles
When the days of the Salem witch trials have passed, and you happen to be one of a handful of spell casters who survived, what’s an honest witch to do to eek out a livelihood in Boston? Become a freelance private investigator, otherwise known as a “theiftaker” of course! And when a case comes up that no normal person can solve, much less touch, then a spellcaster is clearly what you need. This is the world of A PLUNDER OF SOULS and there is a lot to like about it.
THIEVES’ QUARRY is a follow-up to my favorite urban fantasy novel of 2012, D.B. Jackson’s THIEFTAKER. I started this book with high expectations and it somehow managed to exceed them
We don’t see an abundance of male protagonists in urban fantasy, and we see still fewer that a really great. Fortunately, D.B. Jackson’s Ethan Kaille falls into that category. THIEFTAKER, the first book in The Thieftaker Chronicles follows a conjurer, or wizard, in colonial America who uses his magic to eke out a living as a thieftaker. Everything in this book is meticulously researched. The time period feels completely real.
