Nalini Singh describes SILVER SILENCE as the start of a “second arc or season” for the Psy-Changeling series and that description feels very correct. Like the previous books, SILVER SILENCE carries with it the history of this world, the compelling characters, passionate romances, and fascinating plot while forging its own path into a new world. I loved seeing the way in which the fall of Silence and the following Trinity Accord has effected all of the races and their interactions with each other.
Where SHARDS OF HOPE concluded a major story arc in the Psy-Changling series, ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR starts a new one which manages to both introduce us to new characters, expanding this world even more and to show us small vignettes of the lives of our favorite characters from past books.
So much of my time spent reading SHIELD OF WINTER was dedicated to worrying whether such a broken person could actually function somewhat normally. When the reveal of just how much torture and pain he endured at such a young age to become an elite Arrow I seriously doubted he could pull himself from the darkness.
HEART OF OBSIDIAN was an emotionally charged and intensely brilliant story that had me staying up long into the night to finish it. In this book we see the impact of the slowly breaking self- imposed Silence on the Psy race with violent reactions to change and struggles for freedom by the Pure-Psy faction.
