I was drawn into MARKSKWOMAN by the impressive back copy and cover art. Sign me up for any novel featuring a sisterhood of elite warriors. Readers that love page turning action and assassinations will fall in love with MARKSWOMAN.

When I pick up a new dystopian novel, I’m always hopeful that the author will put a new spin on the genre. But at it’s core, SINLESS is nothing new. Tarkoff has found a different, problematic way to divide society, but the same beats exist. The hero is at first blind to the horrors of her world, then her eyes open, and she decides to revolt and become the savior everyone apparently needs.
If I was rating the first half of THE CITY OF BRASS, it wouldn’t get very many stars. I nearly put the book down at 25% and never picked it up again – but this book has received a lot of love lately, and I wanted so very much to like it that I pushed through. And I am so glad I did. By the end of THE CITY OF BRASS, I understood the hype and I was reading this book like it was the air I need to live.
Dark, original and awesome, GRIM TIDINGS is a strong follow-up to Kittredge’s BLACK DOG. With less of the elements that I don’t like and more suspense and drama, GRIM TIDINGS is an excellent second book in the Hellhound Chronicles.
THORN JACK was a bit of a surprise. The cover drew me in more than the description on this one. Especially the hardcover version! But in the end, I was surprised how much I enjoyed THORN JACK.
THE DIABOLICAL MISS HYDE was an entertaining twist on the classic tale of THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE. I love a good murder mystery and one where the protagonist in part doesn’t know if she is the killer makes for an especially juicy story. The story, like the kind upright Dr. Eliza Jekyll is split in narration between her and her more brash and violent alter ego Lizzie Hyde.
BLACK DOG, book one in the Hellhound Chronicles, had some aspects I definitely was not a fan of. However, for the most part, BLACK DOG is a dark urban fantasy, packed to the brim with characters, plot lines and action, and is a wild ride through a new world Kittredge has created.
DEMON’S FURY, DEMON’S VOW, and INNER DEMON were published as part 1,2, and 3 which was a clever idea although I got all three together so I didn’t get to experience the effect and anticipation of waiting for what happens next in the final book of The Asylum Tales. DEMON’S FURY brought us back to Gage and his tattoo parlour where many unique
THE WITCH WITH NO NAME is a fond farewell to all of the brilliantly flawed and loveable characters we’ve come to adore in The Hollows series. It takes a special series to make you actually feel so emotionally attached to characters so I was a bit nervous that THE WITCH WITH NO NAME would not live up to my expectations of how this series should end.
THE GIVEN is a satisfying and touching conclusion to the Celestial Blues series. The main mystery of who killed Griffin Shaw occupies THE GIVEN, surrounded by a plot that involves betrayal, organized crime, and murder, yet at its center, it’s a story about true love and finding peace with yourself.
