I enjoy reading about dragon shifters in general and I like the concept of the Dragon Heat series with its epic war between dragons and knights spanning over generations. WICKED DARK DRAGON expands on the intriguing mythology giving a basis for the hatred between dragons and knights.

The second in The Awakening series, VAMPIRE’S THIRST follows immediately after VAMPIRE’S HUNGER, and I was excited to see what Kimber and Duncan were going to do next. Turns out, it was have a bunch of sex, and fight. A bit more on the erotic side than most books we review here on All Things Urban Fantasy, VAMPIRE’S THIRST could have been so great, but unfortunately it fell flat for me, with characters behaving in a nonsensical manner in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, nearly a complete lack of world building, and a mish-mash of tangents that were frustrating distractions from the main plot.
There’s always a natural assumption, I think, when you read anything to do with souls or redemption that there will be a religious element to it. REDEMPTION lives up to that expectation but not in a way I found overly preachy. It’s more focused on a struggle between light and dark, choices and free will rather than an advertisement for church.
The plot in RED HOT DRAGON felt rushed with more focus on the sex scenes than the romantic development or the plot. I felt left out of the exciting and very fun sounding kidnapping story happening somewhere else especially when its resolution appeared to be an afterthought to the next sex scene. With most paranormal romances there are certain things I expect: a relatively good story, compelling characters who I can relate to in some way, and of course a steamy romance.
