Action-packed and fun, HEROINE COMPLEX is the superheroine story that I’ve been waiting for. Full of fun and action, HEROINE COMPLEX has it all – demon fighting, a dramatic superhero, and a dab of romance to top it off!
Genre: Urban Fantasy
MISTAKES WERE MADE, episode 3 of Bookburners Season 2 unfolded completely differently than I expected. The idea of the team attending an academic conference dedicated to all things magical is amusing, to say the least. What they found there was a little creepy and definitely a bit surprising.
Although not as enjoyable as CREEPY TOWN, WEBS did an excellent job of advancing the plot of team two’s explorations of magic, and offered a brief glimpse into the history of the Bookburners (or Societas Librorum Occultorum, as I suppose it’s called).
**Warning! Spoilers for the previous books ahead!**
THE CURSE OF TENTH GRAVE is another exciting installment in the Charley Davidson series. Though the story and Charley’s history are getting increasingly complex, I still enjoyed the story, drama and action that come along with Charley. This is not a series I’d recommend getting into in the middle, and THE CURSE OF TENTH GRAVE only proves my point, with pieces of the plot relying on information from previous books to understand all of the nuances of Charley’s story.
Delightfully creepy and fun, episode one of Bookburners season two, CREEPY TOWN, is a perfect bite-sized read.
I’ve been looking forward to BOUNDARY BORN since I finished BOUNDARY LINES last year. And BOUNDARY BORN was easily worth the wait. The Boundary Magic series has gotten significantly better with each book, and BOUNDARY BORN has continued that tradition by bringing us another epic adventure.
BLACK CITY SAINT is a dense urban fantasy that’s got a lot going for it. It’s fairly original, being set in the 1920s instead of modern day, and the juxtaposition of the Christian tradition with the fae mythology is interesting, to say the least. However, BLACK CITY SAINT was difficult to get through at times and where the world-building succeeded, the character development failed.
So I was coming off a long string of amazing Sci-Fi books that I’d been looking forward to for a long time, and I ran into the problem that I’m guessing almost all readers run into every once in awhile… After reading so many great books in a row I didn’t know what to read next. I spent a couple days not reading anything at all, because I just didn’t know what to pick up to follow so many awesome reads. However, I couldn’t last long without reading something so I decided to go back and reread an old classic, STORM FRONT.
LAST CALL AT THE NIGHTSHADE LOUNGE is a quirky urban fantasy story where getting drunk with the correctly made cocktail gives you superpowers to beat up monsters. The concept that bartenders are a part of a secret monster killing society due to their ability to get superpowers from alcohol is a pretty cool one.
If you’re already a fan of Amanda Carlson’s writing a la the Jessica McClain series, then STRUCK will be right up your alley. If you’re not familiar, then hold on to your hat, because you’re about to go for a crazy ride!
