DARK MOON WOLF was a pretty unique premise from the typical wolf shifter urban fantasy/paranormal romance story. The love interest is not there, and there is already the HEA baby that happens at the end of many of these stories.
Genre: Urban Fantasy
When you mix incredibly powerful witches and hot djinns who are tied to their lamps for hundreds of years, you get the incredibly sexy RISING FOR AUTUMN, which surprised me in a few different ways: for such a short book, it had big action, big characters, and an even bigger story.
MIDNIGHT CURSE is the first in the Disrupted Magic series, but is actually the 10th novel written in the Old World Chronology series by Melissa F. Olson. I didn’t realise it was part of a larger series until after I had finished it, and I didn’t feel like I missed anything by not reading the previous books.
THE TURN takes Hollows fans back to where it all began, a world where witches, vampires, and all sorts of magic are hidden away behind the sexism, racism, and revolution of the 60’s.
I lost track of how many police interviews Peter and his team conducted, and I loved it. THE HANGING TREE is a solid police workhorse of a novel, where a small team of people who can do magic, and their only slightly bigger team of backup personnel, try to keep the property and collateral damage to a minimum while doing their job.
While I have some small quibbles, THE GHOUL VENDETTA was exactly what I expected from Shearin and The SPI Files. Fun, dramatic, witty and an all around good read, THE GHOUL VENDETTA continues the series in a great way, answering some questions while opening new avenues for the story to go down.
If Harry Dresden were a college professor in a post financial crash New York City he would be Professor Croft. No, DEMON MOON is not a carbon copy of the Dresden Files, but there are enough similarities that I feel at home in the Prof Croft universe.
ELEVENTH GRAVE IN MOONLIGHT continues the tradition of the Charley Davidson series of being sassy and fun with an undercurrent of danger and mystery.
It doesn’t take long for FANGS & FENNEL to pick up steam. The fast-pacing of the novel promises a fight or a flee in every chapter. While it seems that everyone in FANGS & FENNEL either wants to kill or kiss her, Alena Budrene just wants to divorce her husband, keep her bakery, and be taken seriously by her friends and family.
TO CATCH A STOLEN SOUL is the first book in a series based on one of the wonderful characters from the Monster Haven series, Kam the djnn. When we met her, she had an interesting enough backstory that I wished she had her own book. Guess I got my wish with this one!
