WICKED BURN is a suspenseful paranormal romance with lots of drama and a very strong hero and heroine. With a great couple at its core, it is an enjoyable book for those who are familiar with the series, though it had a few issues.
With it’s strong hero and sweet heroine, SHADOW RIDER checks off many of the boxes that I love in a romance, plus, it takes place in Chicago! Though not the focus, Feehan has created an interesting mythology, and given the reader side characters’ stories to look forward to as well!
**Warning! Spoilers for the previous books ahead!**
THE CURSE OF TENTH GRAVE is another exciting installment in the Charley Davidson series. Though the story and Charley’s history are getting increasingly complex, I still enjoyed the story, drama and action that come along with Charley. This is not a series I’d recommend getting into in the middle, and THE CURSE OF TENTH GRAVE only proves my point, with pieces of the plot relying on information from previous books to understand all of the nuances of Charley’s story.
LOTUS AND THORN is one of those rare stand-alone young adult books in a sea of trilogies and series, and it is so full of awesome and crazy that it left me almost speechless at the end. (Almost, because obviously I have to write this review.) LOTUS AND THORN has fascinating world-building, a wide variety of well-developed characters and did I mention the awesome and crazy?
Where SHARDS OF HOPE concluded a major story arc in the Psy-Changling series, ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR starts a new one which manages to both introduce us to new characters, expanding this world even more and to show us small vignettes of the lives of our favorite characters from past books.
BLACK CITY SAINT is a dense urban fantasy that’s got a lot going for it. It’s fairly original, being set in the 1920s instead of modern day, and the juxtaposition of the Christian tradition with the fae mythology is interesting, to say the least. However, BLACK CITY SAINT was difficult to get through at times and where the world-building succeeded, the character development failed.
RUINED was a fun young adult book, that while enjoyable, fell a little flat for me. With some interesting aspects, and the beginnings of a sweet romance, I think that RUINED could have been a better read for me with some more details and fleshed out characters.
If you’re already a fan of Amanda Carlson’s writing a la the Jessica McClain series, then STRUCK will be right up your alley. If you’re not familiar, then hold on to your hat, because you’re about to go for a crazy ride!
BLOOD LUST is another excellent, bold, action-packed installment of The Sentinels series. I love when we are given the opportunity to see interesting side characters from previous books get their own book. For BLOOD LUST we get Bas, a mysterious assassin who caught my eye earlier in this series.
THE QUEEN’S DANCE is wonderfully funny and craftily written paranormal romance. I really enjoyed this book and the world building is fascinating. I loved how dragons live with humans as rock stars and and other highly visible occupations and their society with dragon queens and studs is pretty unique (and oh so very political).
