Pale Moon Walking is a brilliant blend of the Wild West and aliens and at the center a strong romance between two very tough, independent characters. We have gunslingers, small desert towns mixed with government conspiracies, military experimentation, and mysterious aliens.
Classic sword and sorcery, but by no means a simple story, BLOODFORGED explores the intricacies of politics, war, and marrying your ex-boyfriend’s brother. In this universe “victory” is more nuanced than defeating a single villain or weakness, forcing Alix and company to face heartbreakingly real obstacles as they fight for the alliances and resources that can turn the tide of a losing war. And upon this stage of high adventure and higher stakes, Lindsay’s characters sparkle with wit, emotion, and relationships that ring true.
SILVER IN THE BLOOD was a book I was very much looking forward to reading. The beautiful cover and author alone (I loved DRAGON SLIPPERS) was enough to intrigue me, and I didn’t even bother reading the description. So going in a bit blind, I was very happy when SILVER IN THE BLOOD lived up to my expectations.
To say the Thieftaker Chronicles series is well researched and practically throws you right into pre-Revolutionary War Boston with its attention to detail of life and events happening at that point in American history is a massive understatement.
There be monsters here; amid the gas lamp laden walkways of Victorian era London in THE SHADOW REVOLUTION and just a few magic practitioners stand in defense against the darkness. I loved the setting and the world building set up in this story and the idea of a order of magical practitioners with various sorts of skills really peaked my interest.
THE VOYAGE OF THE BASILISK is Lady Trent’s most thrilling adventure to date. With little of grinding misogyny that peppered earlier books, here Isabella takes to the seas with her research fellow Tom, her son Jake, and a stalwart captain mad enough to hunt sea serpents in their natural habitat.
I tend to shy away from many YA books unless I find the premise interesting enough that I must at least give it a try or until the shear popularity of it forces me to take a peek. With THE STORYSPINNER it was the former reason.
The least historical feeling of the Scandals With Bite series, BITE AT FIRST SIGHT has all the hallmarks of a good paranormal romance novel. It’s got some hot sexual tension, some good old hidden feelings of love, and some supernatural drama, as well.
A sexy mix of historical setting and paranormal romance, the Darkest London series doesn’t skimp on magic or chemistry. SOULBOUND, at long last, explores the origins of the mysterious GIM and Adam, their king.
THE DIAMOND CONSPIRACY is full of steampunk awesomeness as I thought this whole series would be just from reading the story summary of PHOENIX RISING. It has everything from weird steampunk weapons and tricked out vehicles to intense action and some romance thrown in as well. Add a mad scientist doing creepy experiments and secrets upon secrets and this book is filled with so much delicious ideas.
