WANTED: WILD THING was a sweet ending to a fun series about a paranormal dating agency. While I wasn’t as thrilled by this one as I was for the previous books it still had its charm and amusing quirky character moments that I’ve come to enjoy in the Midnight Laisions series. Where the previous book featured mostly shifters and vampires WANTED: WILD THING put a bit more emphasis on fairies

Review: Red Blooded (Jessica McClain #4) by Amanda Carlson

RED BLOODED is an unsurprising addition to the Jessica McClain series. By that I mean it follows Jessica’s mishaps and constant fight for survival in a fast-paced ride through the book. Though the setting is imaginative and different, and we learn more about Jessica’s history and the prophecy that everybody in the supernatural world is concerned about, which is rewarding, RED BLOODED lacks the interplay between Jessica and the more well-known characters, such as Rourke or Ray, which is disappointing.

Original and intriguing, HOUSE IMMORTAL falls closer to the science-fiction spectrum of books than urban fantasy. However, with the kickass heroine, powerful, near immortal beings, fun sidekicks, and original world, HOUSE IMMORTAL will definitely appeal to the standard urban fantasy reader.

NIGHT UNBOUND is yet another in a strong, Paranormal Romance series that offers action, romance, and characters that don’t fall prey to the “cast of thousands” fatigue so common in this genre. Both Lisette and Zach have appeared in prior books, and seeing these two find a happily-ever-after makes for a steamy and satisfying romance, with a minimum of drama keeping them apart.

5!bat Review: Full Fathom Five (Craft Sequence #3) by Max Gladstone

From the titles to the page, the first three books in the Craft Sequence marry numbers with magic. The stories themselves explore different parts of society, but always on the bedrock of a spiritual economy where soul stuff is traded and bartered to power the world. FULL FATHOM FIVE weaves together new and old characters on an island of idols and mysteries, infusing this broken world with a slowly building hope that is impossible to resist.

I can understand, to some degree, wanting to generate buzz for your novel, but you might want to stop and think before comparing it to something written by a man who can claim a Nobel Prize in Literature. Apparently, stopping and thinking wasn’t the road chosen and the comparison was made.

Review: Possession (Fallen Angels #5) by J. R. Ward

Review: Possession (Fallen Angels #5) by J. R. Ward

Surprising, complex, and sexy as hell, POSSESSION is J. R. Ward at her best. This far into the battle of heaven and hell the romance could easily have been an afterthought, but Ward’s gift for turning familiar territory on it’s head means both the romance and the metaphysics had my complete attention. In a world filled with magical Alphas, somehow these human men managed to crank up the chemistry and the spotlight.
