Review: With All My Soul (Soul Screamers #7) by Rachel Vincent

Review: With All My Soul (Soul Screamers #7) by Rachel Vincent

March 28, 2013 Review 2

WITH ALL MY SOUL is the final book in Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series, and it’s an ambitious, go for broke, book. Half the characters have died and been brought back in some form or another, others have been violated and deceived in inexcusable ways, and the few that have managed to grab on to love have left a trail of bitter broken hearts in their wake. And yet, this is the book that promises, and mostly delivers, a happy ending.

Review: Before I Wake (Soul Screamers #6) by Rachel Vincent

Review: Before I Wake (Soul Screamers #6) by Rachel Vincent

July 6, 2012 Review 3

The Soul Screamers series is not one that knocked me off my feet initially. The first two books were solid, fun stories with great mythology, but not especially memorable. That all changed with book 3, MY SOUL TO SAVE. The last three books have been increasingly excellent as Rachel Vincent started taking more and more risks with her characters and spinning her story into unexpected and completely unforgettable directions.

Review: Charmfall by Chloe Neill

Review: Charmfall by Chloe Neill

February 6, 2012 Review 0

CHARMFALL was my first taste of the Dark Elite world, and though the book itself only rated three bats, this is a series that I know I am going to keep an eye on in the future. Neill’s mythology is unique in the “magical prep-school” niche and her characters were both interesting and age appropriate. While Neill employs the familiar hook of a young protagonist developing magical powers, she takes things a very interesting step further by giving those abilities an expiration date. Not only does this make it more plausible that teenagers are on the front lines of a magical conflict, but it also gives the Reapers an enticing depth that is so much more intriguing that just being “bad”.
