MIDNIGHT CURSE is the first in the Disrupted Magic series, but is actually the 10th novel written in the Old World Chronology series by Melissa F. Olson. I didn’t realise it was part of a larger series until after I had finished it, and I didn’t feel like I missed anything by not reading the previous books.
Author: Melissa F. Olson
Melissa F. Olson has become one of my insta-buy authors. I haven’t read anything of hers I haven’t liked, and NIGHTSHADES is no exception to that. NIGHTSHADES is a gritty police procedural in an awesome urban fantasy world.
I’ve been looking forward to BOUNDARY BORN since I finished BOUNDARY LINES last year. And BOUNDARY BORN was easily worth the wait. The Boundary Magic series has gotten significantly better with each book, and BOUNDARY BORN has continued that tradition by bringing us another epic adventure.
I thoroughly enjoyed the BOUNDARY CROSSED, so I was eager to read BOUNDARY LINES. The pacing in the first book was off just a little bit for me, and I was worried that problem would continue in this book, but it didn’t at all. The plot flowed smoothly and quickly, with lots of action and just the right amount of romance. It’s rare for me to find a book that is so interesting I don’t want to put it down, but I had a hard time putting this one down.
I am a fan of Melissa F. Olson’s Scarlett Bernard series, so when I saw she had a new series coming out I instantly preordered it. If I already know that I like the author and the book is in the same genre I generally don’t read the summary because they often have spoilers in them. So it was a very pleasant surprise when I started listening to Boundary Crossed and discovered it is set in the same world as the Scarlett Bernard series.
