THE FATE OF THE TEARLING left me with lots of feelings. The first two-thirds of the book were rock-star. And, to be fair, the last third of the book was good too, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. So, without spoiling anything, I am going to try to review this book for you. First of all, if you read the first two, definitely read the third. You’ll want the closure that it provides. And if you haven’t read the first two, I definitely recommend them. The trilogy has a very different feel than a lot of other fantasy trilogies, to its benefit.

Looking back at my review of THE QUEEN OF THE TEARLING, I was surprised that I had any reservations, because I only remember how much I thoroughly enjoyed the book. When I received a copy of THE INVASION OF THE TEARLING, it is pretty safe to say that I was ecstatic, so eager to follow Kelsea’s story and find out what happened to her.
In the vein of GRACELING or GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS, THE QUEEN OF THE TEARLING offers a rich fantasy world chock-full of political intrigue, heart-stopping moments, and an unconventional heroine who I fell in love with on page one.
