Rough, brutal and intense are three words that come to mind when trying to describe the reading experience of JUDGMENT ROAD. It has an outrageous premise that the reader is expected to buy into, of the horrific past of the members of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club, but what I could see for a lot of people is that it would just be too much to take in a romance novel.
Author: Christine Feehan
With SHADOW REAPER, Feehan has managed to improve a series I already enjoyed. The part I liked, the sexy and dark vibe, was maintained, but the main characters felt more realistic and not so over-the-top. Also, the very original world continues to grow, and I find myself looking forward to all of the Ferraro siblings’ stories!
With it’s strong hero and sweet heroine, SHADOW RIDER checks off many of the boxes that I love in a romance, plus, it takes place in Chicago! Though not the focus, Feehan has created an interesting mythology, and given the reader side characters’ stories to look forward to as well!
When I closed this book I had to take some time to process my feeling on it before writing down my thoughts. I enjoy shifter romances and am typically able to reason with the aggressive and violent nature of the heroes due to their being half-animal. Sometimes the attitudes of the heroes can be a bit much and the sex a bit too domineering for my tastes but usually that’s balanced out with the heroine’s ability to stand up for herself and the hero’s ability to know when to calm down or back off.
