October 24, 2009 Something Different 5

In general, I’m not a huge fan of book blog  memes.  I don’t think you really care what books I got mailed to me on a particular day or which ones I’m waiting for etc (If I’m wrong, let me know).  Don’t get me wrong, there are some good memes out there, but the majority just seem like lazy posts to me. So far, Throwdown Thursday is the only one I’m doing, but that one is basically just an excuse to bring up/contrast something I wanted to talk about anyway.  I am thinking, however, about adding one more—again because there… Read more »

October 9, 2009 Review 0

Book Blurb: People in Midland are dying. Only two so far, but both of them were Gifted, and both were killed when someone—or something—drained them of blood. Two months ago, the power winds swept through and changed the rules everywhere. Midland, Texas, didn’t suffer as much as some places, partly because this small West Texas city has only one smallish node . . . and because it has a guardian, little though Midlanders realize this. Nathan Hunter is well able to discourage the odd goblin, banshee, or ghoul. Kai Tallman Michalski is a reluctant telepath with a skewed Gift—she… Read more »

Review: Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs (On The Prowl)

Review: Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs (On The Prowl)

October 5, 2009 Review 0

Book Blurb: These all-new paranormal romances from today’s hottest authors feature a female werewolf who comes into her own; a Lord who crosses paths with a fiery mage; a mixed-blood Child of the Moon who faces an uncertain future; and a woman whose sixth sense proves to be a dangerous talent.   Review: Alpha and Omega is the novella that preceded Patricia Briggs’ Cry Wolf (Alpha and Omega, Book 1). Part of the On The Prowl anthology, A&O; is less its own story and more the introduction to Cry Wolf. It almost feels like someone decided to cut the first… Read more »

Review: Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson #4) by Patricia Briggs

Review: Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson #4) by Patricia Briggs

September 30, 2009 Review 2

Its hard to review this book without referencing what happened at the end of the previous book, Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson book 3) because it has a huge impact on the characters and tone of this book (you can read my mini review of Iron Kissed here). That being said, I’ll try to be as spoiler free as possible. But if you haven’t read the previous books in this series; one, you’re missing out because they are among the best urban fantasy books out their; and two, prepare for a huge spoiler.
