HISSES & HONEY finds the fun that was so vital to the first novel. After the getting her divorce and besting Theseus on live TV, Alena has taken a large step forward for supernaturals. Human’s respect her, even treat her like a celebrity. But even then, Alena just can’t win. She gets her bakery but loses her man.
At this point I’m pretty sure that John Ringo asked himself at the beginning of each Monster Hunter Memoirs book what was something cool that he could add to the Monster Hunter universe that Larry Corriea hadn’t done. With GRUNGE John Ringo answered the question, what would happen if a monster hunter could talk to monsters? In SINNERS, John Ringo takes on what would happen if everyone knew about monsters?
Martians Abroad has a great premise. Kids who were born and grew up on Mars coming to Earth for school. Boarding school stories are a little over done, but they can still turn out to be great. However, as I started to read Martians Abroad I realized that a lot of the problem with the story was the original premise.
When I saw Kerrelyn Sparks’ name pop up, I instantly wanted to read this book; her Love At Stake is one of my guilty pleasures. Imagine by surprise when this book featured a meatier fantasy setting than her other vampire/urban fantasy series! I raced through this book as the intrigue, magic and love story developed. It was an enchanting read with fabulously loveable characters and both humour and tragedy throughout.

DARK MOON WOLF was a pretty unique premise from the typical wolf shifter urban fantasy/paranormal romance story. The love interest is not there, and there is already the HEA baby that happens at the end of many of these stories.

A few days after finishing WYNTER’S BITE, I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about it. In the past, I’ve enjoyed the Scandals With Bite series quite a bit, but WYNTER’S BITE didn’t have the same feel as the previous books in the series, and I didn’t like it as much.
