5bat! Review: A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge

5bat! Review: A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge

In A FACE LIKE GLASS your face will freeze like that. Maybe it’ll be stuck in Face No. 456, Joyous Rapture at Excellent Characters, or Face No. 943, Unbridled Excitement for Plot Development. Either way, you’ll be smiling throughout. In the world of Caverna facial expressions have to be taught. The poor only know a few expressions (happy and dutiful) while the rich learn all the intricacies.

Review: Magical Probi (The Federal Witch #2) by T.S. Paul

Review: Magical Probi (The Federal Witch #2) by T.S. Paul

June 30, 2017 Review 4

The Federal Witch series has been on my list to read since it came out. It was on my reading list for a long time, and then it came out in audiobook form, so I got even more excited. I ended up purchasing each book as they came out on audio. I finally got caught up on what I’d been working through, so I decided to pick up the Federal Witch series. Instead of double checking, I downloaded the MAGICAL PROBI, assuming it was the first book. It wasn’t, but I still loved it and didn’t have any problem keeping up.

With a name like COLT HARPER – ESTEEMED VAMPIRE CAT, I figured the book was going to be completely horrible or absolutely amazing. So which one did it end up being? It was somewhere in the middle. I ended up loving the ESTEEMED VAMPIRE CAT, but it did take some time to get there.

Revolution is a messy, dangerous business and THE WAKING LAND doesn’t pull punches to depict it. After her father’s failed uprising, Elanna Valtai was taken from her home and placed as a ward within King Erylais’ household. Over 11 years, she learned to hate her homeland and its culture. When another revolution rises Elanna must become a figurehead and unite Caeris, a country that she doesn’t fully love or understand.

Review: When A Lioness Pounces (A Lion’s Pride #6) by Eve Langlais

The A Lion’s Pride series has been consistently excellent. Each book introduced fun new characters and situations for them to tackle. WHEN A LIONESS POUNCES is no different, introducing cool new mythology and keeping up with the unstoppable group of lionesses we’ve learned to love since the first book.

Being a collection of short stories, THE SHADOW OMNIBUS was a pretty quick and fun read with five haunting tales of horror and adventure. I was clued in to the fact that this was a collection of short stories by one author and not five after wondering at the similarities of the writing styles and lack of author list.

Review: Bite Somebody Else (Bite Somebody, #2) by Sara Dobie Bauer

BITE SOMEBODY ELSE is a hilarious and irreverent romp of a vampire romance story. While there were some funny bits and quirky characters (my favorite kind of character) I found it to come off as a bit too juvenile at times and the plot seemed to meander and drag towards the beginning and end which obviously lessened my overall enjoyment of the book.
