Jeaniene Frost posted the cover art for her new book, First Drop of Crimson, on her blog today. She confirms that Crimson is ‘sexier and a bit more romantic’ than the Night Huntress series (its a spin off). I definitely get the romantic vibe from the cover, not to mention the description. I’m thinking this will be more of a straight paranormal romance. FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON And here’s the stepback: And here’s the back cover description: The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows – her best friend is… Read more »
"When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes" – Erasmus As nice as that sounds, it is immensely impractical. Many of us have families that would object to being hungry and naked while we curled up with a copy of Silver Borne (on a side note: please write faster Patricia). So, what’s the solution when money is tight and your favorite author releases a new book that you can’t afford? Here are a few tips that might help feed your need to read. 1. Swap sites. Swap sites are… Read more »

I’m starting a new feature here on All Things Urban Fantasy: Character Profiles. I hope to add at least one a month. Of course there was no contest of who would be first. My favorite urban fantasy heroine…Mercy Thompson! Book Blurb: People in Midland are dying. Only two so far, but both of them were Gifted, and both were killed when someone—or something—drained them of blood. Two months ago, the power winds swept through and changed the rules everywhere. Midland, Texas, didn’t suffer as much as some places, partly because this small West Texas city has only one smallish node . . . and because it has a guardian, little though Midlanders realize this. Nathan Hunter is well able to discourage the odd goblin, banshee, or ghoul. Kai Tallman Michalski is a reluctant telepath with a skewed Gift—she… Read more »

What is the biggest Urban Fantasy book/series that you haven’t read yet? Or is there one one you waited a long time before reading? I spent years avoiding Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series because of the bad press I had heard. You can read about what caused me to finally pick up Guilty Pleasures and my love/loath relationship with Anita Blake here. The Twilight Saga was another series I didn’t immediately pick up. In fact, I didn’t start book one until two weeks before Breaking Dawn was released. I, stupidly, had a complete blind spot when it came… Read more »
Tynga posted this on her blog today with much enthusiasm. I’m a little underwhelmed, but then I prefer more stylized covers.
Alexandra posted her new cover (Salvatore’s story) today. I love the eyes, but the claws are a bit Wolverine to me.
