In the last days of the world, the walls of Viyara are still falling, and the dead are rising faster than ever.

Juliet is trapped—ordered by Lord Ineo of the Mahyanai to sacrifice the remaining members of her family, the Catresou, to stave off the end of the world. Though they’re certain his plan is useless, Juliet and her former friend Runajo must comply with Lord Ineo’s wishes—unless they can discover a different, darker path to protecting Viyara.

Romeo is tortured: finally aware that his true love is alive, he is at once elated and devastated, for his actions led directly to the destruction of her clan. The only way to redemption is to offer his life to the Catresou to protect and support them . . . even if it means dying to do so.

When Romeo’s and Juliet’s paths converge once again, only a journey into Death will offer answers and the key to saving them all—but is it a journey either of them will survive?

Kate Says

I really liked this font on book one, but here it seems way too difficult to read, and that is confusing to me.

Kristina Says

I don’t like how the title is over powering the images in the background.

Kate Says

Oh my goodness this is ridiculous. Could her shirt be any lower on her chest? Also, what is going on, is she laying in a forest on the ground? So strange.

Kristina Says

While there is no obvious paranormal aspect to this cover it does have sort of a fantasy vibe with the model’s pose and the forest backdrop.

Her hairdo blends in with whatever is going on in the background, and like Kristina said, it’s really hard NOT to notice her chest, when it’s just… boom, right there. All in all, a pretty boring cover with a ridiculously clothed woman. Not a fan.

Kristina Says

First thing I noticed was the boobs. They just pop out at you. The hair and make up are cool and I like the color scheme but yeah…

The problem with being born with expectations is the failure to live up to any.

Christopher might be the antichrist but taking over the world and leading the minions of darkness sounds like a lot of work. And while slacking is a sin his supposed dad Lucifer approves of, his lack of goals is a problem.

Personally, Christopher would rather just work hard enough to make ends meet—and maybe buy a six-pack. But fate is conspiring against him. For some reason the dead won’t stay in the ground, apparently he’s not an only child, he has sisters and this hot chick he met in the cemetery refuses to sleep with him.

It’s time for this lazy prince in waiting to rise to the occasion and embrace destiny—or at least make out with it.

Kate Says

At least he’s wearing clothes? But the cross out of the word “Lost” doesn’t do this cover any favors. It just makes it look messy.

Kristina Says

Kind of boring.

They call her Traitor Kate. It’s a title Kate Brighton inherited from her father, the former royal Master of Horse, after he tried to assassinate the high king years ago. Now, Kate lives as an outcast, clinging to the fringes of society as a member of the Relay, the imperial courier service. Only those most skilled in riding and bow hunting for the Relay; and only the fastest survive, for when night falls, the nightdrakes—deadly flightless dragons—come out to hunt.

Fortunately, Kate has a secret edge: she is a wilder, born with magic that allows her to influence the minds of animals, like the horses she rides. But it’s this magic that she needs to keep hidden, as being a wilder is forbidden, punishable by death or exile. And it’s this magic that leads her to a caravan massacred by nightdrakes in broad daylight—the only survivor her childhood friend, her first love, the boy she swore to forget, the boy who broke her heart.

The high king’s second son, Corwin Tormane, never asked to lead. Even as he waits for the uror—the once-in-a-generation ritual to decide which of the king’s children will succeed him—he knows it’s always been his brother who would assume the throne. And that’s fine by him. He’d rather spend his days away from the palace, away from the sight of his father, broken with sickness from the attempt on his life. But the peacekeeping tour Corwin is on has given him too much time to reflect upon the night he saved his father’s life—the night he condemned the would-be killer to death, and lost the girl he loved. Which is why he takes it on himself to investigate rumors of unrest in one of a remote city-states, only for his caravan to be attacked—and for him to be saved by Kate.

With their paths once more entangled, Kate and Corwin have to put the past behind them. The threat of drakes who attack in the daylight is only the beginning of a darker menace stirring in the kingdom—one whose origins have dire implications for Kate’s father’s attack upon the king, and will thrust them into the middle of a brewing civil war in the kingdom of Rime.

Trying to break my grumpy streak here – I like this cover but the title mixed in with the tree branches makes it a little difficult to read. I like the other details though, like the three different swords.

Kristina Says

I agree, the title in the tree is hard to read but I like the cover in general. It has a very classic fantasy vibe.

She can glimpse visions of the past, present, and future but she doesn’t know when, how, or why. She only knows the outcome, and it doesn’t look good…

Being human is hard enough. Being human with psychic abilities is worse. It was for Terra Vane anyway, until she immigrated to Portiside. There she feels at home in the thriving city of the Fey, Shifters, Vampires, and other gifted humans.

Where there are many factions of creatures, however, crime and skirmishes are to be expected. With a stubbornness born out of years of being deemed a “freak,” Terra’s determination and unique ability serve her well as an Enforcer Field Agent for the Portiside City Agency.

Alongside her annoying wolf-shifting partner, Kaleb, there is no case that is too strange to solve. No case too dangerous—until there is, and the trail of bloodlust leads them to unravel a mystery that threatens Portiside as they know it.

Like Kristina, I don’t understand the tears with the title in them, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it. Plus, at least she seems to be wearing normal clothing?

Kristina Says

I like the cover model and her purple highlights. I don’t understand the tears with the title in them.

Kate Says

Why is his shirt unbuttoned? Why is there a head of a wolf in the background? Um, I like the colors? But otherwise this cover is a super boring paranormal romance cover.

Kristina Says

This might be the first Terry Spear book with a guy who has a bit of facial hair (I went back and checked!). Perhaps since this is a new series, the cover models will have facial hair to differentiate from the ones with no facial hair? These book covers are pretty uninspiring.

Kate Says

Kind of cool, but my first thought was directed toward his other arm – as in, where is it? Also, the hand that is showing doesn’t appear to be sized right for his body?

Kristina Says

I like this cover. It’s cool and I for once I like that you can’t see his face because of the hood instead of it being cut off of the cover.

Well, okay. So, no shirt and lightning! But I kind of love how they did the A in the title, it’s really cool.

Kristina Says

I do not object to this tattoo and the lightning is pretty cool looking. I am not a fan of the A in the title.
