Wooing a she-wolf isn't as easy as it looks in this bold paranormal romance from USA Today bestseller Terry Spear

In Silver Town, the secrets run deep...

Alpha werewolf Brett Silver has an ulterior motive when he donates a prized family heirloom to the Silver Town hotel. Ellie MacTire owns the place with her sisters, and he's out to get her attention.

Ellie is even more special than Brett knows. She's a wolf-shifter with a unique ability to commune with the dead. Ellie has been ostracized, so she protects herself and those she loves by revealing nothing-not even when strange and dangerous things begin to happen in Silver Town. And especially not to the devastatingly handsome and generous wolf who's determined to win her over...

BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE is a sweet romance story with some added ghost mysteries to spice things up a bit. I love a good ghost story so I was pretty engaged in figuring out just why Brett's aunt is haunting a piano installed in Ellie's hotel. Like most of Terry Spear's stories in this series, this one is high on the sweetness, with a dash of mystery, love, and some mild tension that is resolved neatly. Its a quick and pretty satisfying read.

I enjoyed Ellie and Brett's slow build romance and watching them try to get to know each other along with figure out the whole haunted hotel and piano situation. There's no huge gory fight scene, wolf pack drama issues beyond the amusing relationship hi-jinks between Ellie and Brett. The conflict with their relationship is deciding whether they should be together or not and Ellie trying to date other people which amusingly doesn't go as planned.

I was not a fan of the B-plot involving Ellie's ghost-hunting cousins and a haunted car. It was kind of unnecessary and not as interesting to me as the A-plot. BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE was a fun read and pretty typical of a Heart of the Wolf series story with a sweet romance, and some interesting plots with low stakes drama that you know will be resolved pretty easily. Basically a good read on a rainy evening or on the beach.
