If you don’t know Gin “the Spider” Blanco, you don’t know dangerous female heroines.
Irony 101—The Spider herself snared in someone else’s web…
Another week, another few clues trickling in about the Circle, the mysterious group that supposedly runs the city’s underworld. Gathering intel on my hidden enemies is a painstaking process, but a more immediate mystery has popped up on my radar: a missing girl.
My search for the girl begins on the mean streets of Ashland, but with all the killers and crooks in this city, I’m not holding out much hope that she’s still alive.
A series of clues leads me down an increasingly dark, dangerous path, and I realize that the missing girl is really just the first thread in this web of evil. As an assassin, I’m used to facing down the worst of the worst, but nothing prepares me for this new, terrifying enemy—one who strikes from the shadows and is determined to make me the next victim.
I love how this series unravels the overarching plot along with new details about Gin's past ever so slowly across the books. SNARED is no different. Just when I think I have things figured out when it comes to the Circle, there is some new revelation that has me asking more questions, which is one of the reasons why I keep coming back to this series. In SNARED we get a grizzly serial killer plot which was pretty fun to try and figure out. There is a lot of grunt investigative work done by Gin to figure things out and she uses some interesting methods to find the killer and his most recent victim. While every bad guy in these books deserves what they have coming; this creepy person really deserves Gin's wrath.
Surrounding this serial killer hunt is Gin's quest to discover the members of and bring down the Circle. There are some more huge revelations for Gin involving her family and this Circle organization. She is getting close to discovering who the head of the Circle is and from what we learn I have an idea who I think it might be. I am kind of wondering if Gin will slowly take down each member of the Circle in the next few books until we get to the last one and meet the head honcho at the last book.
SNARED has murder, mayhem, magic...things I've come to love about the Elemental Assassin series. I've been with this series so long that the characters and world feel so familiar and fun to come back to time and time again. I am looking forward to what comes next for Gin and what life changing scenarios are in store for her in the coming books.Series Titles:
