Series: Night Prince #2
Published by Avon on March 26, 2013
Genres: Adult, Paranormal Romance
Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges...
Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever–especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her.
Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity...
Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust– the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity.

Here are our thoughts this week! If you haven’t read the book, feel free to skip our possible spoilers, and check out our original review of TWICE TEMPTED!
Kristina: I liked ONCE BURNED the best out of the three books in this series. TWICE TEMPTED is second. Most of that is because Vlad is pretty much a big jerk for a good portion of this book. For being an all powerful vampire, Vlad acts like such a clueless dude in the botched not proposal that felt like it was totally a proposal to everyone else. Aside from my general feelings of annoyance with Vlad in this book, Vlad being able to plan and execute a wedding ceremony in such a short amount of time is amazing. I call shenanigans on the speed at which Leila’s dress could be made but I guess vampires have super sewing speed powers?
Jeanine Frost excels in making books that are re-readable. Even when you know the direction the story is headed, it’s still a fun ride.
I was once again annoyed at how Leila has to bend to vampire ways – it does make sense when she is in a relationship with a supremely powerful vampire, but it still felt stifling. Still, Vlad shows that he too can change, and he performs the silliest, most mundanely romantic gesture ever for Leila. I liked how it meant a lot to her, but it was also so well explained that it meant a lot to the reader as well.
After a lot of back and forth, TWICE TEMPTED finishes with a sense of stability. Although their relationship isn’t going to be easiest, it’s at least come to a point where they can understand each other better.
Kate: Though my Goodreads account says I’d already read TWICE TEMPTED, for the life of me, I could not remember a single thing that happened. So, reading it this time felt like a first read, and like Kim and Kristina, the speed at which things happened kind of astounded me. Just the pure amount of action packed into this book felt like a lot, with Leila constantly in danger.
I was happy for Vlad and Leila to get back together again, but I felt like Leila kind of rushed into the relationship. But, when they were together, oh boy! The scenes where the two of them are intimate are scorching hot.
This book definitely felt like a second book in a series – tying up ends from book one but also setting up the story to continue on in the next books. I can’t say it’s one of my favorite Frost books, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it!
