Whoever said "violence is a last resort" never had a Minotaur for a best friend.

Warlock Marcus Shifter has been sent on the most dangerous mission of his career: travel to the remote Minotaur nation and convince them not to abandon the tenuous peace agreement between the humans and the paranormals. But securing that peace requires his best friend, Steve the Minotaur, to help him find a way in to the isolated homeland. A homeland Steve left behind long ago, intending to bury his complicated past.

Secrets and intrigue aren't the only trouble Marcus uncovers with the notoriously blunt Minotaurs. Between political upheaval and their own civil unrest, rebellion is brewing. A Minotaur revolt wouldn't just mean the end of the Reformation Treaty, but a shattering of the peace it represents. Cut off from allies and low on ammunition, Marcus must find a way to prevent the coming storm before the human and paranormal worlds are plunged into a horrific, bloody war…

Minotaurs, warlocks, and bookworms, oh my! PARANORMAL CHAOS is chock full of mythological creatures and tons of epic battle scenes that I would love to see filmed  on a massive screen. In this third and final book of the series we get to explore Marcus' best buddy Steve's world of the minotaur. I really liked seeing the in depth detailing of minotaur history and culture which is-not surprisingly -set around the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. I continued to have a hard time imagining minotaurs walking around, talking, and doing well anything.  Inability to comprehend what are essentially bipedal cows with human bodies the story involving political intrigue and interspecies peace treaties was really fascinating and fun to read. Political discussions seem to e more interesting with centaurs, warlocks, trolls, and bookworms. Who knew?!

Marcus is a delight and I love how, while he has a lot to  brood about he really doesn't. He just does his job and does it with a sense determination, righteousness and  humor. It also pretty cool how he uses modern weaponry along with his awesome warlock magic. Some times the simplest thing works the best when in a fight. The secondary characters continue to be a delight. I adore Steve and loved learning about his backstory and why he left his people. The bookworms, or awesome book nerd creatures are my favorite characters in this series simply because of their mad research skills and their massive library. It's a book lover's dream.

The battles as I've mentioned before are huge and for someone who doesn't enjoy reading about characters discussing battle strategy I was pretty engaged in the planning. As I began to read the end of the story I learned that this was the last book of the Shifter Chronicles which is a bummer as I really enjoyed this world. PARANORMAL CHAOS is a wonderful final installment of a truly epic urban fantasy series.
