THE FUTURE OF HIS TRIBE
Leader of the vampire clan MoonBound, Hunter will do what he must to save his people from extinction—or worse, a torturous eternity as vampire slaves and subjects of human experimentation. To keep his enemies at bay, he has agreed to mate a rival clan leader’s daughter in return for peace between the clans and an ally in the looming war with the humans.

THE LOVER OF HIS SOUL
But survival comes at a price. First, Hunter must break an ancient curse by successfully negotiating three deadly tests. Then he must resist the searing passions of the gorgeous vampire warrior he despises but is bound to mate. Will Hunter stay true to his word? Or will he risk everything for the woman he really loves: the vampire seductress’s identical twin sister?

Once you get past the terrible Photoshopped aspects of the cover, the pages of CHAINED BY NIGHT hold an acceptable addition to the MoonBound Clan Vampires series. While I wouldn't say I liked it more than BOUND BY NIGHT, it definitely tied up the cliffhanger from the first book's epilogue, plus it gave the reader plenty of action and serious chemistry between the main characters.

Ione's mythology continues to amaze. The world of the MoonBound Clan Vampires series is multi-faceted and built well. More time was spent in CHAINED BY NIGHT on the various vampire clans, and their different ways of life, and less about their interactions with the humans. It a very interesting world, and very creative. This alone makes it stand out from other paranormal romances. One other thing I liked was the fact that the hero and heroine were both vampires. This was not a hundreds of years old vampire falling in love with a 20-something, but rather it felt like two equals coming together. Both Hunter and Aylin were honorable and easy to like, even if I didn't always agree with their decisions.

What did bother me was that Hunter was promised to Rasha, Aylin's twin sister, so the times that Aylin and Hunter got together felt like he was cheating a little (even if it was hot). I wish the issue of Rasha could have been resolved before Hunter jumped into bed with Aylin. Plus, the characters had a tendency to be a little flat. I rarely felt like there was any growth of individual characters, they all seemed pretty much the same the entire way through.

Luckily, CHAINED BY NIGHT doesn't end in a cliffhanger like BOUND BY NIGHT, but there are a few unanswered questions that will keep me coming back for more from the MoonBound Clan Vampires. While this one isn't a book I'll pick up again, this series has a lot going for it, and CHAINED BY NIGHT was a fun diversion while waiting for the next book.
