Blog Tour: RUINS Scavenger Hunt with Dan Wells & giveaway!

March 14, 2014 Giveaways, Guests 10

2074: RM remains uncured. No human has seen a Partial since the Break, but hatreds are still strong. No new human child has been born with an immunity to RM, meaning that no child lives longer than two or three days. The human survivors in East Meadow become desperate, and the Senate creates the Hope Act: a law requiring all women age 21 and older to become pregnant as quickly and as often as possible. The intention is to maximize the number of children born, thus increasing the chances that some of them will be born immune. Many people support this as a drastic but necessary measure, but others object to it as the latest act of an increasingly fascist government. The Senate’s most vocal opponents rally around a small press newspaper called the Voice.

2075: The Voice becomes increasingly antagonistic, eventually calling for a full revolution and the dismantling of the government. The Senate cracks down on these rebels, driving many into the wilderness of Long Island. This conflict will slowly escalate to greater extremes of violence, with some heralding the voice as freedom fighters, and others decrying them as terrorists. The Senate continues to solidify increase security measures, nearly to the point of a full police state.

2076: After two years without success, the Hope Act is amended, reducing the impregnation age from 21 to 18. One of the youngest humans left on Earth, 16-year-old Kira Walker is studying medicine when she learns that her adopted sister is pregnant. Determined not to let the child die, she embarks on a deadly quest to find the cure—a quest that will uncover old secrets, dredge up unforgivable hatreds, and forge tenuous new alliances that could save both humans and Partials together…or destroy them both

 RUINS by Dan Wells

Available on March 11, 2014 by Balzer + Bray

Kira, Samm, and Marcus fight to prevent a final war between Partials and humans in the gripping final installment in the Partials Sequence, a series that combines the thrilling action of The Hunger Games with the provocative themes of Blade Runner and The Stand.

There is no avoiding it—the war to decide the fate of both humans and Partials is at hand. Both sides hold in their possession a weapon that could destroy the other, and Kira Walker has precious little time to prevent that from happening. She has one chance to save both species and the world with them, but it will only come at great personal cost.
