Victoria Scott’s Dante Walker on the Hive from THE LIBERATOR

Liberator_CoverLet’s get one thing straight, the Hive is a cluster f-bomb. It looks like Dracula’s pad if Dracula had Alzheimer’s. It looks like a house a Carnie designed so that he could have a special room for his crack pipe collection. This is the place Valery tells me we can protect Charlie and Aspen in, but suffice it to say, I have my doubts.

The first thing you need to know about the Hive is that it’s confusing as hell. There are no less than seventeen doors in the entrance area, and each leads to another set of doors. How anyone is supposed to get in or out without getting lost is beyond me, but I’m told that’s the point. What I’m not told is why liberators, who should have access to ungodly amounts of excess, can’t figure out how to build a house that doesn’t feel like a living, breathing nightmare.

“But it’s situated on the ocean,” they tell me.

“Yeah, super creeps,” I retort. Because really, the ocean is an asshole. It takes up way too much space on this overcrowded planet, and to add insult to injury, all that water isn’t even drinkable. Oh, and it harbors animals with multiple sets of teeth. So sue me if I don’t get wood over a ramshackle mansion on the edge of an overrated ocean in the middle of who-knows-where.

Then again, I guess the humans working here make a mean meal. Oh, and Charlie and I have a room to ourselves. I’ll let you use your imagination on how that last one is working out. On second thought, I’ll tell you: it’s fan-freaking-tastic. Collectors hunting Charlie? Meh. Sirens trying to kill my new assignment, Aspen? Whatevs. I’ve got Charlie in a bed alone. Pow!

Let me tell you about the place I’m supposed to train, a little place called the Hive.

It’s kiss ass.

Dante has a shiny new cuff wrapped around his ankle, and he doesn’t like that mess one bit. His new accessory comes straight from Big Guy himself and marks the former demon as a liberator. Despite his gritty past and bad boy ways, Dante Walker has been granted a second chance.

When Dante is given his first mission as a liberator to save the soul of seventeen-year-old Aspen, he knows he’s got this. But Aspen reminds him of the rebellious life he used to live and is making it difficult to resist sinful temptations. Though Dante is committed to living clean for his girlfriend Charlie, this dude’s been a playboy for far too long…and old demons die hard.

With Charlie becoming the girl she was never able to be pre-makeover and Aspen showing him how delicious it feels to embrace his inner beast, Dante will have to go somewhere he never thought he’d return to in order to accomplish the impossible: save the girl he’s been assigned to, and keep the girl he loves.

WOW, now I know what to expect when I come upon the Hive – think I might just turn around and go the other way, I sometimes get lost just trying to get to the market and cannot imagine trying to pick the right doors LOL Thank you for sharing with us and making me smile 🙂
