But now she’s the one fighting to keep her own secret. She’s not human – and her newly discovered heritage is causing havoc for her both in the human realm and in Faerie. But her status as an unaffiliated fae also makes her an ideal candidate to investigate a new street drug that has surfaced in several of the spaces between the human and fae worlds. This glamour-infused drug causes hallucinations that turn real – at least for a while and often with deadly consequences. Searching for the source of this drug – and its purpose – lands Alex front and center in the conflict brewing in Faerie and she must find answers before she’s dragged so deep she loses her freedom.

Apart from the new cover model (hate when they switch mid series, but it happens), I love the whole look for this series. And did you notice the quote! That’s from my review!

Kristina Says

I love the look of this series as well. The grave magic coming out of her hand is a nice touch.

Kaleigha Says

I love it when a series keeps a theme going with their covers, and this one does it very well. It manages to be pretty and egdy at the same time, which is rare.

Remy O’Malley was just learning to harness her uncanny healing power when she discovered the other, darker half of her bloodline. Now she lives trapped between two worlds, uneasy among her fellow
Healers—and relentlessly hunted by the Protectors.

Forced to conceal her dual identity, and the presence of her Protector boyfriend Asher Blackwell, Remy encounters a shadow community of Healers who will put her loyalties to the test.

Pushed to the limit, with the lives of those she loves most on the line, Remy must decide whether to choose sides in a centuries-old war—or make the ultimate sacrifice and go to a place from which she may never return…

“I LOVE this cover. I LOVE the model. I LOVE the colors. I can’t wait to get my copy of this.” – Corrine Jackson

Abigail Says

This looks like a dozen self-pub titles I’ve seen and it couldn’t look less like the debut if it tried. The German cover, on the otherhand, is quite lovely.

Kristina Says

This book looks so different from the first one save the title font. I like the purple swirls but she looks very photoshoped in to me.

Kaleigha Says

Not feeling this one. I don’t get any vibes off of it at all – very generic and bland. The first book of the series was perhaps standard YA pretty, but at least it stood out.

Remy Chandler, angel private investigator, is trying his damnedest to lead a normal life in a world on the verge of supernatural change. He’s found a new love—a woman his dog, Marlowe, approves of—and his best human friend is reluctantly coming to grips with how…unusual…Remy’s actions can be. And he’s finally reached a kind of peace between his true angelic nature and the human persona he created for himself so very long ago.

But that peace can’t last—Heaven and the Legions of the Fallen still stand on the brink of war. Then one of Heaven’s greatest generals is murdered, and it falls to Remy to discover who—or what—might be responsible for the death, which could trigger the final conflict…a conflict in which Earth will most certainly be the beachhead.

The deeper he digs, the further he goes into a dark world of demonic assassins, secret brothels, and things that are unsettling even to a being who has lived since time began. But it is not in his nature—angelic or human—to stop until he has found the killer, no matter the personal price…

Abigail Says

You have to click the cover to see the enlarged version as the beauty here is in the details. The wraith guys in the back are super creepy and appear to be holding spinal columns..I think? Cool either way.

Kristina Says

Those wings are great. I love all the details and flaming swords are always cool.

Kaleigha Says

There is so much detail in this one that it takes a while to take it all in, but it isn’t busy or overdone. Very dark and dramatic – and I am a sucker for well done wings.

Abigail Says

Love JLA, but I’ve never been wowed by the covers for this series and this one is the least impressive to me…it looks more suited to an erotica cover than YA.

Kristina Says

I like the stark look. The smokey flower is elegant looking.

Kaleigha Says

A reluctant thumbs down, since I love this series (and everything she writes). It is just too home-made photoshop jobbied for me. The smoke flower is pretty, but it is just too bare.

Abigail Says

I knew immediatly what series this was (which is always a plus) but it’s not as strong as the previous covers which focused on one feature (eye, mouth, hand) as opposed to the two angry profiles.

Kristina Says

The make up on that person is freaking me out. Are they trying to be scary or did someone get into mommy’s make up to look like an insane clown.

Kaleigha Says

I keep staring at it, not quite sure what to think. I like the idea, but not sure it works. And the crooked tagline at the top makes my OCD twitch.

Be careful what you wish for…
You just might get it.
Nick Gautier is tired of his destiny. He doesn’t want to be the son of a demon who’s fated to end the world. Nor does he want to see another demon or other preternatural creature who wants to kill or enslave him. He just wants to be normal and have normal problems like everyone else.

But normality isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. When he gets sucked into an alternate reality where his mother has married his mentor and his Atlantean god best friend has become a human geek, he begins to understand that no life is free of pain, and that every person has a specific place in the universe… Even the son of a hated demon.

Most of all, he sees that his powers aren’t the curse he thought they were, and that the world needs a champion, especially one its enemies can’t imagine rising up to defend the ones he should destroy.

Old enemies and new friends square off for a major battle that will either restore Nick to his real world, or end him forever.

Abigail Says

Love the color palette (B&W w/ a punch of red is always striking). This is my favorite from the series.

Kristina Says

Nice rich color for his jacket and I like the symbol thingie on these covers.

Kaleigha Says

Another good, solid entry for this series. Same theme as the previous books, which is great, but a little darker and more dramatic.

Abigail Says

I’m a big fan of this trend for dystopian/post-apocalyptic covers with a huge ruined landscape and the smaller figures. Sucks me right in.

Kristina Says

I like the rays of light shooting out of the letters. I also always like a good ‘heroes standing on the top of a building/cliff/precipice; scene.

Kaleigha Says

I like this, but I do wish that there was a bit more to it. Great base image, but a bit more text like either a review blurb or more prominent tagline would make it look more finished.

What’s intriguing me is that I don’t know if the stone gargoule guy is protecting her or about to capture her. I’m curious before I even pick up the book. Nice.

Kristina Says

There’s a scary guy behind you!!!! Turn around! Oh wait he’s stone so he probably isn’t dangerous. Or is he?! I like this cover as it definatly makes me want to figure out what the gargoyle’s role is in the book.

Kaleigha Says

Not a bad cover, but I find it a bit misleading. It gives me a very Young Adult vibe, which isn’t in fact the case.

The smokey whispers are a nice suggestion of ghosts, and the spooky house only adds to that feel. I also like that this cover features three characters, hard to do well.

Kristina Says

It has a nice scary ‘haunted house’ look to it. Though they are some sharp dressed ghost hunters and the guy in the front looks like Desmond from LOST.

Kaleigha Says

I like it. I got the whole Ghost Hunter vibe before I even saw the title, which means that the cover is doing its job.

I don’t publicly advertise that I’m a mage, but I don’t exactly hide it either, and one of the odd things I’ve learnt over the years is just how much you can get away with if you’re blatant enough. Hide something behind smoke and mirrors and make people work to find it, and they’ll tear the place down looking for what’s there.

Alex Verus is a diviner who can see probable futures—a talent that’s gotten him out of many a tough scrape. But this time, he may be in over his head. Alex was once apprenticed to a Dark mage, and in his service he did a lot of things he isn’t proud of.

As rumors swirl that his old master is coming back, Alex comes face to face with his misdeeds in the form of a young adept whose only goal is to get revenge. Alex has changed his life for the better, but he’s afraid of what his friends—including his apprentice, Luna—will think of his past. But if they’re going to put themselves at risk, they need to know exactly what kind of man they’re fighting for…

Why do we get this totally bland, nothing covers when the UK versions are so awesome?

Kristina Says

I like the various images of London (I think all of the covers are of London) these covers have. I am going to take a guess and say the next cover will be green.

Kaleigha Says

I love bright, vivid colors on covers since they stand out in the sea of black on everyone’s bookshelf, but for me this one is a bit too vivid.

I get all excited when Ace/Roc does UF covers…they always get it right. Case in point: this isn’t overtly sexy, yet she still looks alluring and fierce with the tat and gun. I would dive for this in a bookstore.

Kristina Says

I applaud this cover for making the tat not look pasted on. It looks like its actually on her skin! There is a very UF vibe from this cover.

Kaleigha Says

Pretty. I like the colors, and the gun and tat keep it from being too YA.

That thing I just said about Ace/Roc, this series is a great example. One of my fav UF series covers ever. Retribution is still my favorite, but love this one too.

Kristina Says

Oh dear that is one angry kitty. She has so many weapon changes on these covers. I really like the curved sword on this one. Is it a scimitar?

Kaleigha Says

I have been noticing a lot more purple in covers lately, and this one is one of the better ones. And kitty does not look happy.

How far into this eerie world will Zoe go to discover what she truly needs? And once she does, will there be enough left of her to come back?

Some versions have added symbols (click the cover) which I’d just as soon leave off. I do dig the unusual font, but otherwise this is a little lackluster.

Suffering under a horrible curse and renounced by his clan, the Imnada shape-shifter, David St. Leger, stalks the London nights in the form of a large black wolf, channeling his desperate rage on thieves and murderers. But when he’s captured by the very woman he sought to rescue, he’s thrown into the magical and dangerous world of the Other—half human, half-Fey, and one of the Imnada’s ancient enemies.

Forced by her half-brother to use her gift of necromancy as a money-making scheme, Callista Hawthorne wants only to flee to her aunt in Scotland where she’ll be safe. Considering David her last hope, she offers him a deal—freedom in exchange for his protection on the long journey north.

Now in a race for their lives, Other and Imnada must put aside centuries of animosity and work together if they are to overcome the dark forces intent on stopping them before they reach safety. For Callista is far more powerful than she knows, and with her help and her love, David may finally be able to break the curse of the Imnada…

“Love the moody misty feel of the background and uh…yeah…he’s not bad either. Teen Diva said he reminds her of Chris Hemsworth. I can live with that. LOL!” – Alexa Egan

Abigail Says

Fire, fog, and flesh. That’s the PNR recipe, but nothing here to really spice it up.

Her spymaster father has one condition: He won’t send her to Paris without an ironclad cover.

Most steampunk covers inevitably look a little costumy to me, but the celebrity lookalikes are so spot on for Ian Somerhalder and Julia Stiles that I can’t help but love it.

Kristina Says

I agree that he does look like Ian Somerhalder. They look too costum-y like people going to a steampunk convention than actual characters wearing practical steampunk clothes. This is coming frome someone who likes oddball steampunk goggles and rivets on corsets.

Kaleigha Says

There is just something about steampunk covers that don’t usually work for me. This one isn’t actually that bad, but the funky outfits make it hard for me take it seriously. Not something that would grab me if I saw it on the shelf.
