Cover Art Face Off & Giveaway: Unbreakable & Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris

April 15, 2013 Giveaways, Guests 37

We’re kicking off the Unbreakable Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours.  Unbreakable, Unraveling #2 (published on April 23, 2013 by Balzer + Bray) by Elizabeth Norris continues the romantic sci-fi infused story of Janelle and Ben. There is a huge giveaway below for five winners including a grand prize that includes both UNRAVELING and UNBREAKABLE! Enter via the widget below.

I always get a kick out of comparing US and foreign book covers and seeing what publishers think will attract their readers and best communicate the story.  For Elizabeth Norris’ UNRAVELING and the sequel UNBREAKABLE, you can see just how differently the books were presented to US and UK readers.

Unraveling (Unraveling, #1)Unbreakable (Unraveling, #2)

I’m a huge fan of the US covers for both books since I think they capture both the trippy sci-fi twist involving parallel universes while revealing the shifting mindset Janelle and Ben go through.  Plus they are pretty 🙂

Unravelling (Unravelling, #1)Unbreakable (Unraveling #2)

The UK covers also get the sci-fi message across, but the more literal interpretation of the title feels less sophisticated.  I do like the UK cover of UNBREAKABLE significantly more than the UK cover of UNRAVELING, but neither comes close to the US covers for me.   Which ones get your vote?

Don’t miss a stop on the UNBREAKABLE Tour!

Four months after Ben disappeared through the portal to his home universe, Janelle believes she’ll never see him again. Her world is still devastated, but life is finally starting to resume some kind of normalcy. Until Interverse Agent Taylor Barclay shows up. Somebody from an alternate universe is running a human trafficking ring, kidnapping people and selling them on different Earths—and Ben is the prime suspect. Now his family has been imprisoned and will be executed if Ben doesn’t turn himself over within five days.

And when Janelle learns that someone she cares about—someone from her own world—has become one of the missing, she knows that she has to help Barclay, regardless of the danger. Now Janelle has five days to track down the real culprit. Five days to locate the missing people before they’re lost forever. Five days to reunite with the boy who stole her heart. But as the clues begin to add up, Janelle realizes that she’s in way over her head—and that she may not have known Ben as well as she thought. Can she uncover the truth before everyone she cares about is killed?

  1. Nora-Adrienne

If I were 20 to 30 years younger I would love to travel to alternate universes. Unless I could find one that has a much more advanced medical system then ours. If so I would jump at the chance to have my body restored to full health.

  2. Ana Lucía

Yes, I think so. Just to see that they actually exist and see if people are the same as us or what difference exist. Sounds like something that could be interesting.

  3. Breana M.

No way, I wouldn’t travel to a parallel dimension. I mean, you could end up there and not like what you see—you could even end up stuck there. Thanks for the chance to win.

  4. erinf1

Thanks for sharing! This series sounds awesome! Nope… I’m too chicken to travel to another dimension 🙂

  5. Viki S.

I think I might but I might chicken out at the last minute.

  6. Beatriz G.

The idea of traveling to another dimension is appealing… but I think I would be too scared to actually do it.

  7. Kelly

No, I hate choices and what if’s. It is what it is. I love to read about others! LOL

  8. Amie

Of course I’d travel to a parallel dimension….all favor of adventure, really I cannot say no =)

  9. Evette Torres

I probably wouldn’t want to travel to a parallel dimension only because I’d would get lost and won’t be able to find my way back home.

  10. DeeDee Griffin

I definitely would. The curiosity would kill me if I didn’t.

  11. alicia marie

I think I would if I could. It would be interesting to see how things are different in a parallel dimension 🙂

  12. Teresa Salvatore

I would like to travel to parallel dimensions in which my life was totally different in each dimension and I could choose where I’d rather stay. How cool would that be?

  13. Desiree

I would definitely travel to another dimension as long as I knew that I would have a way back to this one. I would like to see whats goin on there and what my parallel me was like.

  14. Kai W.

I’m a big fan of Sliders the TV series. I was so sad when the series was discontinued. I don’t know if Quinn, Wade, Rembrant, and Quinn’s professor ever made it back to their dimension. They have been sliding from one parallel dimension to another parallel dimension. They even picked up Maggie from a dimension different from their own.

This is what the Unbreakable Blog Tour reminds me of. I still love that TV series.

  15. Grace Lo

Wow, I really love your take on the covers! Personally, I think that both styles are cool, but just simply like the US covers more.

As for whether or not I’d like to travel to an alternate universe . . . that depends. If it’s somewhere where pizza grows on trees and I can find chocolate randomly raining from the sky, the that’s a definite yes 😉 Thanks for taking part in the totally cool Unbreakable Blog Tour!

  16. Christiane C.

I love the US covers better, As for whether I would travel to a parallel universe…I’m not sure…You never know what you’ll see and hear… Thanks 😀

  17. Richa

I would totally travel to a parallel universe! As long as I can get back easily, of course. I’d love to see what it’s like and how it’s different from our world 🙂

  18. Melissa R.

I’d be all over it. Mainly because I think it would be a blast but also because Sliders was one of my favorite TV shows.

  19. smiling_ina

I think I would, even if just to take a peak at how live would be on “the other side”. It’s a very, very intriguing thought. 🙂

  20. Readsalot81

I think I would. If only just to satisfy my own curiosity. (Yeah, it killed the cat I know)

  21. Van P.

I think I would, curious to see what else is beyond what we know/see.

  22. Amber Hsu

I don’t think I would… it would be really risky and I’m not really the adventurous type… I’d rather just read the books… 🙂

  23. Brittanie

I would consider it, but who knows what the heck is over there. I’d go after someone else makes sure it’s safe!

  24. Tiffany Drew

I think I’d definitely be curious and want to check it out, but I don’t think I would. I’d be too afraid of what I might find on the other side.

  25. Alicia Batista

Yes, I would LOVE to travel to a parallel dimension. I think it would be fun and dangerous. But that’s what makes it fun! Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

  26. Jae Lee

I would definitely travel to another dimension. Or many other dimensions. I’ve always wanted to visit the flat planet from A Wrinkle In Time.

  27. Tiff- Escaping... One Book @ a Time

I don’t honestly know… I guess if I knew if I could help or do harm that would be more easily answered. However if I had to dive in blind I don’t know if I could do it or maybe I could… See I just don’t know! 😀

  28. Michele

I think it would depend on if I knew if I could come back or not. If the option to go came with no way back, I don’t think I would go. Otherwise, I would be all for it.
