Early Review: Mate Claimed by Jennifer Ashley

Early Review: Mate Claimed by Jennifer Ashley

September 30, 2012 Review 1 ★★★★

Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound stands out as one of my top paranormal romance series with its complex political and social issues and some intense, hot romances. MATE CLAIMED, the fourth in the series, continues this trend with a spicy romance and intense action.

Early Review: Edge of Oblivion (Night Prowler #2) by J. T. Geissinger

Early Review: Edge of Oblivion (Night Prowler #2) by J. T. Geissinger

September 29, 2012 Review 0 ★★★

Transformed from villain to heroine, EDGE OF OBLIVION makes Morgan’s story just as awesome as I could have hoped. Choked under a restrictive, patriarchal rule her whole life, it was not hard to empathize with Morgan’s efforts to break free. EDGE OF OBLIVION offers her the barest hope of redemption, and is my favorite Night Prowler book to date.

Review: Personal Demon (Laws of the Blood #6) by Susan Sizemore

Review: Personal Demon (Laws of the Blood #6) by Susan Sizemore

September 29, 2012 Review 0 ★★★

PERSONAL DEMON is difficult book to review. Not because it’s bad, but because it’s so average on just about every level. The characters are fine though not really memorable, the plot is descent though nothing that really captivates, and the romance was pretty standard without any real excitement.

Early Review: Death and the Girl Next Door (Darklight #1) by Darynda Jones

Early Review: Death and the Girl Next Door (Darklight #1) by Darynda Jones

September 27, 2012 Review 0 ★★★

Witty friends, brooding supernatural beings, and otherworldly hi-jinx wrapped in high school drama, DEATH AND THE GIRL NEXT DOOR capitalizes on some of my favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer tropes. Though the silliness of Lorelei, Brooklyn, and Glitch’s conversation didn’t always hit the mark, the premise and character dynamic was entertaining enough that I’ll be interested to try more Darynda Jones, either Darklight or Charley Davidson.

Early Review: Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles #1) by Kresley Cole

Early Review: Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles #1) by Kresley Cole

September 27, 2012 Review 2 ★★★★

Evie and Jack reminded me a lot of a teenage Mackayla and Jericho from Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series. A lot. Evie starts out as this Southern beauty with a sweet if superficial disposition who begins seeing things that can’t be real–terrifying things. Jack is the wordly wise bad boy without an inch of softness. He’s ruthless and hard and he forces Evie to survive in the new world they find themselves in.
