What's one of your favorite post apocalyptic or end of the world as we know it books?
Stephen King's The Stand. It still terrifies me to this day, and it's still one of the best post apocalyptic books I've ever read.
The series by Susan Pfeiffer (I know I'm spelling it wrong) – The World as We Knew It….there's two others in the series. vague, I know, I'm getting old.

I recently read Shatter Me and I LOVED it! Could not put it down, so it's got to be my favorite so far
It has to be The Stand.
My fav end of world novel is The Forest of Hands and Teeth.
OH dang that is a hard one. Really I also loved The World as we Knew it and the land from the Forest of Hands and teeth but also the Aftertime series.
The Stand by Stephen King, I started getting sick with bronchitis while I was reading it and it scared the bejesus out of me.
I also like the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison, though it takes place in an alternate reality, and what almost wiped out the human race was, of all things, a genetically enhanced tomato.
I've also read and enjoyed The Forest of Hands and Teeth, but I can't remember who wrote it.
I used to read the Deathlands series and the Outlanders series by James Axler, but I quit when I found out it was a house pen name of the publisher, and because not all the authors that wrote in the series kept any kind of continuity with the other authors, very frustrating.
I also enjoyed Terry Brooks series Word and the Void, that had Running with the Demon, Knight of the Word and Angel Fire East in it. Also enjoyed the Genesis of Shannara, which was a sequel of sorts to the Word and the Void series. It consisted of Armageddon's Children, Elves of the Cintra and The Gypsy Morph.
There are so many more that I liked, but I just can't think of right now.
I'd have to stick with The Stand by Stephen King though as my favorite. He just has a way of making it freak you out, like maybe it could happen. I still freak out when I re-read it, even though I only got sick the first time I read it. I even watched the mini-series made from the book, which I don't normally do, because usually taking a book and making it into a film slices and dices the book. The Stand mini-series was just as good as the book, despite being slightly sliced and diced.
I would have to say Mira Grant's Feed series. In attempting to try to find cures for Cancer and the common cold things go viral. Makes me wonder how easily something like that could unfold today. Love the idea that bloggers are the new source for news. (Hugs)Indigo
I really enjoyed Shatter Me. It had all the great elements of a post-apocalyptic book.
I think I'm going to have to pick The Forest of Hands and Teeth series.
I would pick the Stand by Stephen King.
It's stuck between Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi and Eve by Anna Carey. They were both such amazing reads.
My all time favorite is The Hunger Games (duh!) But Ashes, Ashes is starting to grow on me.
I've been on a bit of a dystopian kick lately, although some haven't been as good as others. But think one sounds great.
Divergent is definitely one of my favorites. Then there's the Gone series by Michael Grant as well. And how could we forget The Hunger Games and The Chemical Garden Trilogy?
The survivors series by Susan Beth Pfeffer
One of my favourite post-apocalyptic books, especially in recent years, is Mike Mullin's "Ashfall." It's a darkly realistic and very interesting telling of what could happen if a supervolcano erupted in the US, and the author got much praise from me when I read it!
It's a tie between The Stand by Stephen King and Swan Song by Robert R McCammon.
I really liked Under the Never Sky. The idea of living in pods with a virtual reality because it's too dangerous outside was great!

I haven't read a lot of books like that, but I did love Ashfall by Mike Mullin! It was so realistic.
I've never heard of this book before, but it's going on my want list.
