Description:
Emma Lost can still remember the day she woke up in the back of a VW van after her famous thousand years’ snooze – the one that inspired the Sleeping Beauty myth. Emma knows it’s no fairy tale – she’s the real Sleeping Beauty, trying to hide her magical powers and swearing off kissing strange men for the rest of her life. Of course, most men follow her around like lovesick puppies…except for Michael Found, her gorgeous boss. The rational, logical Mr. Found doesn’t believe her theories about such things as Fates and fairies and magic, and he’s determined to expose her as a fraud. But Emma knows for sure the magic truly does exist, and she’s going to give Michael a lesson he’ll never forget – even if it means breaking her vow of not kissing men.

| Nothing like a dude in sweatpants trying to act casual to say “Happily Ever After”. The colors are over the top cutesy, this cover needs something that is actually cute to pull it off. He’s hot and hiding his hands… which is worrisome, not cute. | Yep, the colors totally kill this. Way too bright and childish. |

Description:
When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home. Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized. Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe. A secret Kale will kill to protect.

| Another hot guy with his hands in his pockets… I think the cover model needs to be softened somehow, I don’t think his sharpness with the blurry background works for this title. | I like the intense brooding quality this cover presents. And the dark, masculine colors are perfect. |

Desire’s never been so dangerous… Gina Coletti’s magic is as rebellious as she is—actually, more like nonexistent—which isn’t exactly normal in her family of powerful witches. Not that Gina cares. When she starts having visions about the one man she does not want on her radar, she hopes it’s a mistake. Especially when she sees a vision of his death. Which, of course, has only intensified his feelings for her. Eric already knows about the magic that bound his best friend to her cousin six months ago, but when Gina confesses what she saw while he’s working a dangerous case, he’s irked. Will her visions mean his death… or has destiny finally given Eric his ultimate desire?

| The title font doesn’t work for me, and the wisp of smoke blends in with the pink fabric making it look like it’s going up her skirt. | Any kind of smoke wafting from under a skirt is a bad, bad, bad idea. I actually wrinkled my nose when I saw this. |

IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR Cryptid, noun: The Covenant of St. George was founded to uphold one simple ideal: anything that was not present on the Ark—anything they deemed "unnatural"—needed to be destroyed. Monsters. Creatures of myth and legend. All of them would be wiped from the Earth in the name of Man’s dominion. Unfortunately for them, not all the monsters agreed with this plan…and neither did all the human beings. More…

Description:
Magick. Murder. Mayhem. It’s all in a night’s work… After narrowly escaping her fate as a sacrificial scapegoat, Arcadia Bell is back to normal. Or at least as ordinary as life can be for a renegade magician and owner of a tiki bar that caters to Earthbound demons. She’s gearing up for the busiest day of the year—Halloween—when a vengeful kidnapper paralyzes the community. The influential head of the local Hellfire Club taps Cady to track down the fiendish bogeyman, and now that she’s dating red-hot Lon Butler, the club’s wayward son, she can hardly say no. Cady and Lon untangle a gruesome thirty-year trail of clues that points to danger for the club members’ children. But locating the person behind the terror will require some metaphysical help from Cady’s loyal bar patrons as well as her potent new Moonchild powers—and she’d better figure it out before the final victim disappears and her own darkest secret becomes her biggest enemy

| I like the composition and color of this cover, though her fly away hair is too much in her face for my comfort. | I was surprised they chose to reveal Cady’s face since they cut her off in the debut, but once again, Tony Mauro has done a fantastic job. This is how to do bright colors. And I love the caduceus staff. |

| I like the movement of this image and the title, though the script for the author and tag line is hard to read (at least in these images). I don’t feel like there’s any clear link between this and book one, though, other than a use of bold colors. | This is leaning more towards a neutral hand for me. I like the colors, but something about the directions isn’t working for me. |

Description:
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out. Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic in training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws threaten to launch what’s left of humanity into civil war, and she’s not content to stand by and watch. | I like the two guys facing off, but the title font is too ornate for me. Description:
Playing by one’s own rules is tempting danger for a female mercenary and a mysterious stranger in Shiloh Walker’s new novel in a “scorchingly hot”* series… His past is a mystery, even to him — a werewolf with memories so lost in a fog that even the Hunter’s healers cannot help him. Two hundred years ago, Toronto awakened on an unfamiliar street, naked and alone. Dogged by the unanswered questions of his enigmatic existence, he fears he will never find the missing pieces of the puzzle that is his life. The vampire Sylvia is no Hunter. She’s a take-no-prisoner mercenary that just barely skates this side of what the Hunters consider acceptable. She has no use for them, their laws, their rules. All she wants is to hunt her quarry, and make a lot of money. Her newest prey is a killer as devious as he is slippery. But her newest complication is of a more intimate sort: A blonde, blue-eyed werewolf who interferes with her plans in so many exquisite ways.

I really like the covers for Touch and Partials. And i agree with you both when you say you dislike the Enchanted Desire cover. The smoke is not necessary. But I also don't really like the cover of Time Untime. I find it's a little too plain, and I'm not a fan of the color.
This was fun to read! I enjoyed reading your thoughts on each cover!
I agree with the best pick. I love thought provoking covers that make you wonder what the subject is thinking, where they are going, or even what they look like with a hidden face. It leaves more to the imagination.
@Robyn – Yellows and oranges are hit or miss for me, too. SUMMONING THE NIGHT was almost too much in that tone for me, but I love the elements they included.
@Dannika – I'm with you! Some covers just pull you right into the story.
After seeing the author's comment on Thoroughly Kissed, I wonder how much control an author has over their cover. Just a thought.. I love when you two hash covers.
. Love the Hemlock cover…. simple but goth.
@Rain – From what I've heard from authors, "less than none" describes the amount of input most authors get.
