My Thoughts:
Dan the man has done it again.  All of the Mercy covers have been stunning, but revealing too in terms of the actual story.  Clearly this book will have more of an emphasis on Mercy’s Native American heritage.  I. Can’t. Wait!

Book Description:

Car mechanic Mercy Thompson has always known there was something different about her, and not just the way she can make a VW engine sit up and beg. Mercy is a shapeshifter, a talent she inherited from her long-gone father. She’s never known any others of her kind. Until now.

An evil is stirring in the depths of the Columbia River—one that her father’s people may know something about. And to have any hope of surviving, Mercy and her mate, the Alpha werewolf Adam, will need their help…

Title: The Lost Saint (Dark Divine #2)

Release Date: December 28, 2010

Author Comments:
”Eep, isn’t it just gorgeous? I am in love. (Although, I’m not sure what I’m going to do when I need to replace all the purple in my author wardrobe with blue.)”
My Thoughts:
I already want the new nail polish.  And I’m always a fan of continuity between covers.

Book Description:

Grace Divine made the ultimate sacrifice to cure Daniel Kalbi. She was infected with the werewolf curse while trying to save him, and lost her beloved brother in the process. When Grace receives a haunting phone call from Jude, she knows what she must do. She must become a Hound of Heaven.

Desperate to find Jude, Grace befriends Talbot—a newcomer to town who promises her that he can help her be a hero. But as the two grow closer, the wolf grows in Grace, and her relationship with Daniel is put in danger—in more ways than one.

Unaware of the dark path she is walking, Grace begins to give into the wolf inside of her—not realizing that an enemy has returned and a deadly trap is about to be sprung

My Thoughts:
I like the scrollwork on the ‘K’ in the title and I’m digging his tattoo.

Book Description:

Trinity Harpswell is a cursed Black Widow-death and mayhem are all part of the job description. If she can manage to go just one more week without accidentally killing someone, she’ll break this killer curse and put her Black Widow days behind her. When sexy Blaine Underhill III shows up at her door and asks for her help rescuing his friend from the clutches of Death’s evil grandma, Trinity gets pulled into a daring high stakes adventure. As Blaine and Trinity join forces to take down a series of underworld assassins, they may just learn that love is the deadliest game of all.

Title: In The Dark of Dreams (Dirk & Steele #10) *Formally titled The Stars Below*
Author: Marjorie M. Liu
Release Date: November 30, 2010
Artist:  N/A
Author Comments: N/A
My Thoughts:
Apparently this is the new cover and title for the 10th Dirk & Steele novel (see below for the previous cover/title). The change is due to a new publisher for Liu.  The previous book looks like mermaids are involved, but the new cover just looks like a bad 80’s romance cover…so who knows.

My Thoughts:
Don’t freak out that this is a SciFi tale, it is about Demons essentially and I’m hoping it’s as good as the description sounds.

Book Description:

Video game designer River Weston is ready to sell her soul to smooth out the glitches in her latest project. When she unwittingly taps into a parallel dimension via cutting-edge technology, a Dark Lord is quick to take her up on her inadvertent offer. Trapped in the world she thought she’d created for her game, River finds herself in a very real alternate dimension that she must escape from before her soul can be used to unleash evil–upon this dimension and many others.

River’s only ally is the sexy and mysterious Chase Hawkins.  A prisoner of the Dark Lord, Hawk is a man adrift?literally. His body safe at home under the watchful care of the Guardians’ scientists, his astral-traveling spirit has been enslaved by his people’s worst enemy, the Dark Lord. Clinging desperately to his sense of self, Hawk is determined to turn the tables on his captor before the connection to his body is lost.  When the beautiful, achingly familiar River enters the picture, he vows he will do everything he can to save her from her bleak fate.

Drawn together with an inescapable force, Hawk and River must wrest her soul from the Dark Lord’s grasp before it’s too late.

My Thoughts:
I like this one better than the previous cover, especially the visual nod to the voodoo elements in the book.

Book Description:

There are two men who have bitten the dust after a delivery from Messenger Melina Markowitz. As she tries to put together the pieces of this puzzle, she discovers that the two victims share common friends, common unexplained absences, and a common crime. Now, dark forces from the local community have been unleashed, drawing Melina into the web of a powerful woman, her voodoo, and her vengeance…

My Thoughts:
Another cute chick-lit style cover.  Would-Be Witch is still my favorite cover in the series.

Book Description:

Duvall, Texas.
A small town that’s about to be in some big trouble.

Pastry-chef-turned-unexpected-action/adventure heroine Tammy Jo Trask is finally ready to embrace her mixed-up and often malfunctioning magic. Too bad not everyone wants her to become all the witch she can be.

First, there are the local residents who form a scripture-spouting posse and kidnap Tammy to “defend” Duvall against witchcraft. Next, someone saddles her with a secret package chock full of dangerous visions, just as the president of WAM—the World Association of Magic—arrives with his entourage to investigate her. And who worse to examine Tammy’s entanglement with off-limits and drop-dead gorgeous wizard Bryn Lyons than his ex-girlfriend? Not to mention that the clash between the locals and the magical visitors leads to a series of unnatural disasters that may doom them all.

Will Tammy Jo’s magical synergy with Bryn be enough to help her save the town or will her enemies succeed in putting Tammy out of commission for good? One thing’s certain: this would-be witch is ready to rumble, Texas style…

Another amazing cover for the Mercy series. If the first three books were ever re-issued in hardcover formats I would totally re-buy this whole series just to have Dan Dos Santo's art in a bigger format.

OH. MY. GOD. 'River Marked' looks *amazing*. Dan is most certainly the man. I love that this book will be about Mercy's heritage and her father. I can't wait!

Rebs – They are consistently stunning. I'm so excited for Mercy to get some answers about her walker side. Can't wait!

Angela – You should check out Dan's site. His covers are amazing.

Mean Mom – I hoping to start Kimberly's series next month :)

Jen D. – What a good idea…anyone from Penguin reading this?

Shera – Iron Kissed is my favorite, but they are all gorgeous.

Brooke – I agree. She is striking, even though Patricia writes her as only average in appearance :)

    RachelfromNJ – Right? Wow indeed.

Larissa – I can't believe we're seeing it this early. It makes it feel like the wait won't be too bad.

Chas – Ooh..I'll have to check your Game Over post out.

Danielle – Me too. We really don't know much about Mercy's Dad and her walker side. I'm betting this book is a game changer for the series.

  6. Mardel

I love the Mercy covers. It doesn't even bother me that each cover has slightly different tattoos – sometimes not so slight. They're so good, it's just fun to see them. On other covers, it would probably bug me a lot – but for some reason, I just enjoy the Mercy covers. LOL

  7. SciFiGuy

Nice cover bonanza. Love the Mercy cover. Looking forward to the Rowe and Liu titles in particular.

  8. Abigail [All Things Urban Fantasy]

Mardel – I know, it's like Harry Dresden's hat. He doesn't wear on in the books, but I love it on the covers :)

SciFiGuy – Doug!! So glad you're back. And this cover bonanza is seemingly unending. Every week there have been a dozen cover reveals…its nuts :)
